A Designers Role in Green Design

A Century College sponsored event for the NKBA Student Chapter. Angela Demonte, LEED AP, EP of Green Designs and Supply (GDS), in partnership with Cindy Ojczyk, LEED AP, Allied ASID of Simply Green Design and Verified Green, along with Rachel Maloney, LEED AP of Natural Built Home were the presenters for the Chapter.

The Designer is often the gatekeeper that facilitates the physical reality of a client's vision. This gatekeeper role is critically important when designing and building Green spaces, as successful implementation of Green requires collaboration of design, designers, property owners, vendors and contractors. Once the parameters that define Green are understood, it is easy to apply those strategies to design, material selection, and construction and help a client realize improved quality of design, quality of life, and return on investment.

Date: Was held on Thursday, January 28th, 2010

City demographics are shifting and the influence of a new generation is growing. New behavior, influences on where and how to live, styles of housing, cultural benchmarks and attitudes towards finance differ from prior generations.

Thanks for coming out for this special event as we explored these questions in a unique, rapid-fire presentation style called "pecha kucha" which ensured the audience did not drift off to check their Blackberry's. The conversation was supplemented with an electronic participatory component.
